As a tantra teacher the question I get commonly asked is “can I practice tantra on my own” the answer is “absolutely”. In tantra we call this right hand path , to be able to integrate tantra into our daily exercises through understanding and knowing “thyself” only then can we combine this energy with our partner and this is known as “left hand path”. Tantra is about acceptance, accepting who you are as a person and honoring and loving YOU; it is about cleansing, clearing the body, mind and spirit of negative emotions, beliefs, addictions; it is about passion; feeling passionate about EVERYTHING in and around your life not just on a sexual level, it is about Consciousness, learning to be in the beauty of the moment and just BE. People who take drugs for example are not conscious because they are trying to escape reality (the now) by creating a fantasy through drug use. When they make love, where will they really be? Totally immersed in the moment or in their own daydreams and thoughts. TANTRA IS ABOUT BEING NOT DOING!!
There is a beautiful definition of the word NAMASTE (which means blessings) that reminds me of the purity and beauty of tantra:
“I honour the place within you in which the entire Universe dwells. I honour the place within you which is of love, of peace, or truth and of light. When you are in that place in you and I am in that place in me, we are one”
